About Margie

Hi friends!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog! Let me tell you a little bit about myself and then I’ll dive right into the fun stuff. I’m happily married to the love of my life, TJ. We have two dogs and one cat – Whiskey, Rye and Cola (no judgement, plz). We also have one son together, River James. I’ll go into more detail about him soon.

I currently live in Des Moines, IA but am originally from North Carolina. TJ and I met when we were in school at East Carolina University (Go Pirates!). Shortly after we graduated, we moved and got married. I have a strong passion for animals, writing, working out, food and of course, coffee. My favorite thing to do is drink my morning coffee with my family in the living room.

From recent life events, I’ve learned that I can use my words to help others. If you’re new here, I want to tell you about my “why”.

September 19th, 2020, our son, River James, was born. Pregnancy was so easy for me and we were so excited to finally meet our mini! I’ve always longed to be a mother. Once those two lines turned pink, I knew my life was just beginning. I dreamed about our future. I looked forward to the holidays where I could finally have an excuse to go “all-out” for Christmas.

Little did I know, September 18th, my world would come crashing down in a matter of seconds.

“We can’t find a heartbeat”.

My River was dead.

Yes, I will use the word “dead”. I use it because it’s true. I didn’t “lose” River, he’s just dead.

My son is still here with us, I feel him every second in my new life. I am here to open the door to many topics, and stillbirth in particular. I want this to be discussed. When he was born, I didn’t realize that stillbirth was as common as it is. 1 in 160 births, yet we NEVER hear about it.

Please be aware of the raw topics that will be discussed on my blog. I want this to be an open and realistic view on life. I welcome you to join my journey as I navigate through my new normal. I hope this allows other individuals to feel a sense of comfort in knowing they’re not alone. Come along with me as I discover more about life as a wife, friend, sister, daughter and mother.

Now, let’s brew that cup of coffee.
